Italian colors lit up the sky above Komárov

A fireworks prelude set to an Italian rhythm brought the Brno-South Children’s Day celebration to a close and kicked off the 29th annual Ignis Brunensis International Fireworks Festival. The show, titled Bella Ciao (after the closing song) and featuring Italian colors, was prepared by the Flash Barrandov SFX team with designer Jaroslav Štolba.

The first green, white, and red effects were accompanied by the well-known notes of the aria “Nessun Dorma” from the opera Turandot, then followed by Italian hits from the 1980s: L’Italiano, Voglio Vederti Danzare, and Sará Perché Ti Amo. The performance concluded with a spectacular finale set to the world-famous italian folk song Bella Ciao. The audience appreciated the music selection: “We really enjoyed the soundtrack; it was probably the first fireworks display where I knew all the melodies,” said Andrea Štefková.

The pyrotechnicians took great care in selecting the music and effects; according to designer Jaroslav Štolba, neither the characteristic fast Italian tempo nor traditional music could be missing:

“What must an Italian-style fireworks display definitely include? Tempo and the Italian tricolor. And traditional folk music, albeit in a modern arrangement. And for visitors in Brno-South, a culinary experience of many flavors, great wine, and thus a festive, joyful atmosphere.”

The first fireworks display of the 29th annual event captivated the audience. “The first show was a blast, so I’m already looking forward to what we’ll see at the Brno Lake this year,” said Lukáš Poláček excitedly. Michal Krupec praised the pyrotechnicians on Facebook: “We go to Ignis shows pretty often, but this was the best one we’ve ever seen.”

Viewers can rate each pyro-musical on the Facebook pages of Ignis Brunensis and Radio Krokodýl, thereby entering a draw for return trip tickets from RegioJet. The highest-rated fireworks display will receive the Audience award after the festival concludes.

A summer full of fun kicked off in Brno with the opening fireworks display. Throughout June, Brno residents can look forward to a variety of events: Czech Police Day, the popular Transport Nostalgia, as well as the MotoGP races. On Saturday, June 27, the Ignis Brunensis international competition will begin with a drone show – the first time 500 drones will fly over the Brno Lake – and a Czech fireworks show directed by Flash Barrandov SFX.
