The twenty-fifth IGNIS BRUNENSIS invites you to six fireworks shows. Pyrotechnists return to Brno Lake
The international artistic fireworks competition REGIOJET IGNIS BRUNENSIS is to light up the skies above Brno and South Moravia in the Czech Republic for the twenty-fifth time this year from 11 June to 23 July 2022.
"The last two years with the pandemic have been a great challenge for us. People were unable to travel so much, so we tried to prepare an attractive range of events for the whole summer for the people of Brno and visitors from other parts of the Czech Republic, combining traditional events such as IGNIS BRUNENSIS and new projects in the form of other festivals and the expansion of the BRNOPAS tourist card. Judging by the response and by the number of tourism awards we have won, the trend we have set has been a successful one and we want to see it continue this year," says Mayor of Brno Markéta Vaňková.
The main part of our fireworks festival is returning to the surface of Brno Lake from 25 June to 6 July. The people of Brno and the South Moravian Region, as well as visitors from other parts of the Czech Republic and abroad, will get to see four magnificent fireworks shows, each starting at half past ten in the evening.
"The climax of this year's festival at Brno Lake is to be held at the end of June and during the state holidays at the beginning of July, and can be enjoyed by everyone staying in South Moravia over the holidays as well as tourists coming to visit in the first week of July," adds Jan Grolich, Governor of the South Moravian Region.
The pyro-musical performances at the lake are to be supplemented by pyrotechnical projects in the south of Brno and the centre of the city. A prelude dedicated to all children is to be launched at the South Brno Children's Day at Areál Hněvkovského on Saturday 11 June, while the fireworks finale over Špilberk Castle on 23 July is dedicated to Gregor Johann Mendel as part of the city's celebrations of the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of the world-famous founder of genetics.

Pyro-musicals at Brno Lake in a Battle Between Northern, Central and Southern Europe
The previous two years of the festival in 2020 and 2021 had to be adapted due to the Covid restrictions and moved to Špilberk Castle. The IGNIS BRUNENSIS festival and foreign pyrotechnists are returning to the main lake at Brno Lake this year. "Croatia from the south of Europe, the Czech Republic and Germany from Central Europe, and Sweden from the north are taking part in IGNIS BRUNENSIS at Brno Lake in 2022," says artistic director for the IGNIS BRUNENSIS festival Jaroslav Štolba from Flash Barrandov SFX.
The two hundred and fiftieth birthday of Beethoven with a delay of two years
A celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven in the form of untraditional compulsory two-minute workings of his "Symphony of Fate" or his "Ode to Joy" was planned for the shows mounted at the lake by foreign pyrotechnists at the 2020 festival. "Thanks to the Coronavirus and the two-year delay in the fireworks prepared for Brno Lake we find ourselves in the interesting situation in which we are to celebrate Beethoven's two hundred and fifty-second birthday in the compulsory part of the shows in the skies above the lake," says Jiří Morávek, Managing Director of the organising company SNIP & CO., on behalf of the principal producer.
Music accompanying the fireworks as usual on FM radio
Original musical accompaniment synchronised to the fireworks is broadcast exclusively for each fireworks show by Rádio Krokodýl 103 FM. All you have to do is find a place offering a view of the fireworks and tune in to the music on FM radio.
Free observation areas to watch the fireworks and a tribune with seating at Brno Lake for greater comfort and convenience
All public observation areas for the fireworks are free for viewers. A comfortable paid zone - a tribune with seating and sound equipment for enthusiasts of the pyrotechnical arts from the Czech Republic and abroad - is, however, also to be prepared at Brno Lake. Advance ticket sales GoOut.net
