Second drone show was voiced by artificial intelligence
The second drone show of this year's Ignis Brunensis commemorated humanity's revolutionary discoveries: from steam to electric lighting, the first trip to the Moon, artificial intelligence, and the current trend of automation and robotization. A light bulb, an airplane, a rocket and a Wi-Fi symbol, connecting the Earth, appeared in the sky.
Spectrum Production involved AI not only in the content, but also in the creation of the show called Centuries of Discoveries: artificial intelligence provided the commentary and also helped with the design of the final images. Although the commentary sounded slightly unnatural, it coped well with the Czech language.
"Despite precise instructions, it has a mind of its own. It is tireless, but not very good at fine-tuning details," said David Zaorálek from Spectrum Production, assessing the collaboration with the new virtual AI colleague. "I wouldn't say that working with it is easier, but it can show us a new direction more quickly and often thinks differently than other team members," he added.
"Today's drone show was quite thought-provoking. I was interested in the part about the future and the cooperation between humanity and artificial intelligence," said Mirka Fenclová, evaluating the show. The show also caught the attention of other viewers: "I really liked today's visuals – the airplane, rocket, Moon, and Earth. It was great," said Michal Pitař.
Spectrum Production will continue to use artificial intelligence, but they are not currently planning to transition to shows created or narrated solely by AI. "It is definitely helpful for working with texts. When it comes to visuals, it can sometimes help in other ways as well. But it's not like we're saying that we're going to use it for every show from now on; rather, it offers a helping hand and a different perspective," explained Zaorálek.
Viewers can vote for the drone show they think deserves the audience award on the Ignis Brunensis Official Facebook page or Rádio Krokodýl Facebook page. Voting will begin on Monday, June 30.
