The second drone show brought sea life to Brno

Brno – The second drone show of the twenty-seventh year of Ignis Brunensis thrilled the Brno audience. The Brno company Spectrum Production prepared a show called Water is Life, accompanied by the voice of actor and presenter Zdeněk Junák. A squadron of 250 drones flew over the Brno Lake on 15 June despite the unfavourable weather forecast.

The drone show brought to light the importance of every drop of water for life on Earth and the beauty of underwater life, symbolically above the Brno Lake. In the sky above the water surface, there was a jellyfish, a giant blue whale and a dolphin, as well as a submarine and water droplets themselves. After the drone show, there were several fireworks effects directed by Flash Barrandov SFX.

The audience's response to the Brno Sea was positive: "I always enjoy drone shows, it's great what the authors can come up with. Last time the Eiffel Tower, now a dolphin, a jellyfish and a submarine," Josef Smyčka praised the creator. The jellyfish was popular among the audience, Ondřej Sládek appreciated it as well: "When I heard about the Water is Life theme, I wouldn't have thought of a jellyfish or a whale, but they did it perfectly."

The squadron of 250 drones was seen in the Czech Republic for only the second time, both times as part of this year's Ignis Brunensis. "The biggest difference with the increase in the number of drones is the ability to display more detail, approximately by one-fifth, or to display images that we wouldn't be able to display at all with 200 drones. The programming is always the same whether it's 100 drones or even 500. Of course, the more drones we have the more challenging the process is. Programming 250 drones compared to 200 doesn’t increase the workload by one-fifth, but rather by about one-third," commented David Zaorálek, head of Spectrum Production, on the preparation of the show.

Zaorálek also outlined the options for future shows. “The more drones we have, the more precise the images we can show, and it opens up more possibilities. Since we are doing our shows all over Europe and beyond, we still have a lot of inspiration."

The drone show was followed by the second fireworks display of the international fireworks competition: the Rhapsody in Rainbow pyromusical created by Czech, German and Spanish fireworks designers and fireworks makers.
