Swiss fireworks surprised the audience

The show, full of surprises and bursts of color, captivated the audience. SUGYP prepared colorful, contrasting effects with a lively soundtrack.

“We ask the audience to stop looking for logic and let themselves be carried away by their emotions.” That was the request from Nicolas Guinand, designer of the Swiss company SUGYP, to the Brno audience before the show The Enigma of Paradoxes, inspired by the mysteries of Sherlock Holmes.

Guinand promised the audience an emotional roller coaster, which he supported with the soundtrack. To the notes of the mandatory piece Discombobulate by Hans Zimmer (with its distinctive staccato), the pyrotechnicians worked with both the water’s surface and the canvas of the sky, with effects shooting in all directions. “The song's characteristic rhythm required absolute precision from us when setting off the effects,” added Guinand.

The Swiss pyrotechnicians used a variety of color transitions and combinations that aren’t entirely typical in fireworks shows, such as green-and-pink effects. They also managed to create a shooting star effect several times. During the Scorpions’ song Wind of Change, the sky above the lake, filled with white “stars,” resembled the light from cell phone flashlights, which often add to the atmosphere at concerts. The segment also captivated the audience: “For me, the best part was definitely during Wind of Change, but the entire fireworks display was perfect. To be honest, it surprised me,” commented Milan Votýpka on the spectacle.

The final, highly unconventional song, Mushrooms and Lollipops, capped off a grand, spectacular finale, as the sky filled with golden fireballs. At the very end of the show, red hearts appeared in the sky. “This piece gave us complete freedom. We used our most saturated colors and wildest effects for it,” added Guinand.

The audience also appreciated the mysterious pyromusical; for example, Radka Andrýsková said: “For me, the Swiss are the clear winners. Great music, great effects, a great show.”

Audience members can rate the Swiss fireworks display on the Facebook pages of Ignis Brunensis and Radio Krokodýl and enter a contest to win round-trip Regiojet tickets to destinations across Europe. The fireworks festival continues on Saturday, June 4, with a drone show featuring 500 drones and a fireworks display by the Finnish team JoHo Pyro.
