European team prepared a rainbow jazz pyromusical

Brno – Spectators enjoyed a unique spectacle on Saturday 15 June above the Brno Lake. Fireworks team consisting of Czech, German and Spanish firework designers prepared Rhapsody in Rainbow – an unusual jazz pyromusical, where each song had a different colour tuning and the final minutes were topped off with rainbow effects.

The opening song was mainly in red and golden tones, followed by a green part. The remixed version of Rhapsody in Blue was accompanied by a combination of blue and gold effects. Afterwards, pink effects appeared on the well-known tune from the Pink Panther movies. The obligatory tune Chariots of Fire was already glowing with colours, and the closing track In the Mood showed a rainbow in various versions.

The rainbow show captivated the audience. "I really liked both the fireworks and the drone show tonight. The fireworks were very unconventional, but very nice," commented Josef Smyčka. "I was expecting I would miss other colours when I read about the fireworks, but there was nothing missing," Alena Kramářová appreciated the pyromusical.

The idea to create a show where each show would have only two colours and a whole rainbow would appear at the end was conceived in 1998 during the first year of Ignis Brunensis on Kraví hora, and a year later the first part of the show was created. This year, the fireworks makers presented the Rhapsody in Rainbow in this format to the Brno audience for the very first time.

From the beginning, the show was created by the cooperation of designers from different teams and countries and brought a completely new colour to fireworks shows. Pink effects have never been used in fireworks before and Spanish fireworks manufacturers created them just for the Rainbow Rhapsody.

"Three months after our request, the manufacturers from Ricardo Caballer prepared a test of different types of effects in pink for us in Valencia. I remember it very well, because at that time several manufacturers and potential clients took part in the tests with great interest and smiles... We were then able to insert the Pink Panther into the show and within one season a several manufacturers in Spain were already producing pink effects," revealed one of the show designers, Jaroslav Štolba.

Before the fireworks, the audience enjoyed the second drone show of this year called Water is Life. The last fireworks show of the international fireworks competition awaits the audience on Wednesday 19 June. A pyromusical called Friendship, celebrating among other things Czech-Austrian fireworks cooperation, was designed by the Austrian team Pyrovision.
